Bill Burns, ACAS, MAAA, is the Vice President of Research and Analytics at the MPL Association, the leading international organization representing medical professional liability (MPL) insurers and related entities. He joined the Association in September 2022, bringing over 25 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
Before joining the MPL Association, Burns served as a Director on the Insurance Research team at Conning, where he focused on MPL, commercial auto, and general liability sectors. Prior to that, he was the head of reinsurance loss reserving at Everest Re and held chief actuary roles at two MPL insurance companies. He was also a charter member of the Medical Professional Liability Committee of the American Academy of Actuaries .
